Animation &Illustrations

I have experience in a variety of mediums in both animation and illustration. One of my favorites animations were done in clay but I've also done things graphicly in after effects as well as 2D animation.

When it comes to illustrations I enjoy doing things on pen and paper but drawing and editing digitally allows me creatively explore multiple ways of expression.

The art of claymation

Claymation

This animation was done with a DSLR camera and a computer with a dragon frame. I used magenta plasticine as my choice of clay for the verity of colors it offers. Stop motion is truly an art that requires a great deal of patience as you make your film picture by the picture but also one of the most gratifying as you see it sitting together at the end.

Process: When I start any animation I start with a quick storyboard of what the animation should look like from beginning to end. I practice a few of the most difficult sections like the jump then set up my environment with lighting and a backdrop and start shooting.

Motion graphic is a great blend of graphic design and animation. For this project, I was assigned to visually sync to the song Toris Gymnopedies by The Hit Crew. I chose blues and greens as my color palette to match the organic and clam melody of the song.

Process: I listed to the song provided several times then I started writing down words, symbolic, emotions, and anything else that came to mind while I listened again. After I got a good feel for the music I drew up a simple storyboard and then did straight-ahead animation. This means I just start animating and see what I like as Ii go forward connecting the previous scene to the next until the music is done.

A look inside motion graphics

Motion Graphics

The Japanese food illustrations was a project I tried to challenge my self in composition and color. I wanted to illustrate the food in a way where you can see all the ingredients that go in it as well as fo it in a creative way that is compositionally unique. I wanted to not use any outlines, have very smooth and curvy objects, with noticeable shadows and highlights to give it dimensions. The Japanese food was graphic on the graphic side of my art style.
